My hubby has been going through my cookbook and came across this recipe for Chocolate Banana smoothie. It sounded wonderful, so we decided to try it. The results... YUM and it is good for you too.. Chocolate has antioxidants and also may help our heart, especially dark chocolate. It also makes us happy, which I think is a great benefit. Bananas also can improve your heart health... So this is a healthy drink for you.
This recipe came from Taste of Home - Guilt Free Cooking. I did adapt it slightly, and hopefully made it even healthier and with possibly less calories.
Chocolate Banana Smoothies
Ingredients:
2 cups Almond Breeze Almond Milk
1/4 cup instant chocolate pudding mix*
2 tbsp vanilla
2 large ripe frozen bananas (I used one frozen and one fresh) sliced
2 cups coarse crushed ice cubes
Directions:
Pour milk, chocolate pudding, and vanilla mix in blender, cover and mix well.
Add bananas and ice cubes, cover and mix until well blended.
Pour into chilled glasses and serve immediately.
Cook's Notes:
The original recipe called for 1.4 oz unsweetened instant chocolate pudding, I didn't have unsweetened so used regular.
The Verdict:
Very tasty, not too sweet. Hubby did put condensed milk in his as he thought it needed to be sweeter. I liked it just the way it was.
The only thing I need now is a better blender like a VitaMix so that there isn't chunks in my smoothies...
I never would have thought to use instant pudding in a smoothie- very smart!
ReplyDeleteI was surprised to see it in the recipe too.. Now I have to try different flavours.
