Raspberry Green Sun Tea

I know, I know, you are probably thinking to yourself that it is September... Why ohh why would I need a sun tea recipe.  I wanted to write this up because my 8 year old nephew should me how to make sun tea and I love it.  I think he was secretly pleased to show his old auntie something.
The only thing is that I forgot to take a picture of him making the tea... bad auntie.  I did change my recipe just a little bit the second time I made it.. I let him know that I did on facebook and his first question was it better then mine?... NO! just different.
He also told me that  he made it for everyone at Grandpa's at the time of our family reunion and one of his uncles told him that it tasted like an Arnold Palmer.  Well I had to go and find out what an Arnold Palmer tasted like and it did.. he was right.
So I first will give you my nephew's recipe for his Sun Tea (with no pictures ~ sorry) and then mine and you can decide which one is better...
Ry's Sun Tea

Ingredient's
3 tea bags placed in 6-7 cups of cold water, let sit in the sun until golden... Make sure it is golden :)  His words not mine.
1 can frozen lemonade
1/2 cup sugar

Direction:
Once the tea is golden, add frozen lemonade, Good Host Ice Tea and sugar.  Just to let you in a little bit of a secret, I only add less then 1/4 cup of sugar as between the lemonade and the Ice Tea mix I felt there was enough sugar.

*** Good Host Ice Tea is a Canadian Brand Ice Tea, very sweet but good.  You can also buy Light.  I only had enough to make one pot of tea as I forgot to ask for some from my sister's.. I guess I need to make a trip home soon.

I didn't have any more  Good Host Ice Tea so decided to use Crystal Light Raspberry Green Tea.  Tasted good.  Not better then my nephew's but good in it's own way.

Ingredients:
6-7 cups of water
3 bags of black tea (I used English Breakfast Tea)
1 package of Crystal Light Raspberry Green Tea
1/2 can of frozen lemonade

Directions:
Place black tea in water and put into the sun until it turns golden.  I put mine in the sun for about an hour or two.
Add Crystal Light Raspberry Green Tea and frozen lemonade.
Enjoy.

I am sure it is easy to pick the best of the two.. Mine of course because I took a picture of it :).  Next time I make this I am going to try some Crystal Light Peach Tea... oh!  The possibilities are endless.

If you want some other great tea recipes.. Head over to my friend Marlene's blog Nosh My Way  .  She has some great ones like this one...Iced Ginger Green Tea Lemonade .  Marlene, we will sit down one day and have a visit over some great Iced Teas... Only if you come here, make sure it is in the summer.  It will be chilly sipping Ice Teas in the snow bank.  But then we do have lots of hot drinks to visit over too.

  1. OMG! You may have made my boys the happiest kids in the world (although they are not kids anymore). They love the lemonade tea thing but I've only been making the sun tea at home. Pinned!
