Jamie at Home Cookbook Review

A couple of months ago I joined a group that does a cookbook review each week. It has been fun checking out new cookbooks and making some of the recipes. I do have to tell you that I vary seldom make a recipes as it is written but with these reviews I am trying hard to do just that. This month we are reviewing Jamie at Home.

Pie is part of American history. They came with the early settlers and were considered economical food. Pies were an easy way to transport and keeping food. The pilgrims brought over the apple speed and once the trees grew, the apple pie became very popular. December 1st was National Pie Day and the 3rd was National Apple Pie Day so.....

I am a huge cheese fan so picking only one favorite was very hard for me... All recipes made with cheese are a hit with me. This week I picked Cheese and Onion Swirl Rolls from Cynthia over at Feeding Big. I loved her combination of cheese and onions. Another big plus was that she made the rolls from scratch. I was hoping to make these before today but just ran out of time.

Foodie Friends Friday Back to School Linky Party #foodiefriendsfriday

I can't believe that it is Thursday already and it is time for our linky party once again. By this time I am sure everyone is back to school. I think the kids around here went back this morning, at least I heard them waiting for the bus across the street. My husband has started his last year of university on Tuesday.. I will be so exciting when he is finally done with school ~ although I don't think this will be the end of it.

Summer is slowly coming to an end, days are starting to get shorter and the leaves are turning colour. But there is still time to do some outdoor cooking. I find this time of year is perfect to have a fire when the evenings are a little bit cooler and you are not sweating over your BBQ.

This has been a busy week for me and I am trying to get this post ready before I head off to work..I was called this morning to see if I could pick up a shift..and being the nice person I am I said yes... Well really I could use the extra money and that is the real reason.

My Host Favorite

This week my host favorite goes to Culinary Adventures with Camilla for her Rhubarb Focaccia. I love focaccia and I also love rhubarb but never in a million years would I have combined the two. To me focaccia is a savory bread but it would work as a sweet bread too... I was planning on making this but my week was filled.. But it is on my to do list. Thanks Camilla for a great recipe.

My Host Favorite

This week I picked Honey Glazed Cinnamon Chicken from Cooks and Facts. The recipe has a multiple of flavours in it.. honey, cinnamon, chilli powder, ginger and tumeric to name a few. She has spices that I would have never thought of putting together and would be a explosion of wonderful in your mouth. I will be making this recipe soon and if I didn't have to work so much it would have made already. Thank you Jeny for this wonderful, flavourful recipe.
