#FoodieFriendsFriday Linky Party ~ Fruit Recipes

It has been a busy week for me since our last party.  I traveled down state to visit my husband and we spent the weekend in Indianapolis visiting my brother and his family.  Now it is back to work for me and I didn't even get anything done in the house, nevertheless the kitchen.

This week on Foodie Friends Friday we are have a Fruit Recipe Theme.  With summer just around the corner, fruit is plentiful.  I love fresh fruit and hope that I can go picking soon... Our strawberry season is a little late as we still had snow in May but mine are going to hopefully be plentiful as I have lots of flowers, now to get the fruit before the birds do... What kinds of fruit do you like and do you go berry picking in the summer?

My Host Favorite

This week my host favorite goes to Kristen from Farm Fresh Feasts for her Pasties.  These are a staple meal here in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.  You can buy them just about anywhere, even at most groceries stores.  I have made my own but most of the time I just buy them as it is much easier. I also think that they need to have rutabagas in them to be perfect.  The best place in my mind to buy Pasties is at Connie's Kitchen in Calumet.  We even have a celebration of these wonderful pies at Pasty Fest.

I love Rhubarb and then add Cream Cheese and you have a winner.  So when I saw Sheena from Hot Eats and Cool Read's recipe for Rhubarb Cream Cheese Blondie I feel in love.  This recipe looks so yummy and I will be making it as soon as possible.  I might even eat the whole pan myself.. Just don't tell anyone.

This week my host favorite goes to Nicole of Tales of a Kansas Farm Mom for her Country Barbecue Potatoes .  I make a similar potato but have never thought of adding honey to my potatoes.  That sounds awesome and the next time I make my potatoes I am going to add some to mine.  I do make these potatoes outside on the barbecue and also in the oven.

This week my host favorite is bread.  I am all about the bread.  I love bread and when I saw this recipe for bread made in your slow cooker.... I was so excited.  I have been wanting to try it and now I have a recipe. This recipe also has seeds on the top... I can't wait to make this.  I was so excited about this recipe that I forgot to tell you where to find this recipe.  This recipe comes from Joanne of  What's on the List and the recipe is called Oatmeal Amaranth Seeded Bread.  I am not sure what Amaranth Flour is but I am sure going to find out.

This week I picked Salted Sugar Cookies from Mature Spring Chick. I love trying different flavours in the my sugar cookies and never would have in a million years thought of salt.  But I am sure they will taste marvelous and she has decorated them so nicely and they look so springy... Host Favorite

This week's host favorite goes to Amelia's Dessert for her Coconut rice and grilled pineapple with shrimps.  Rice is a staple ingredient in our house and making it with coconut milk will be wonderful.  I love how she started out this post ~ " Without rice, even the cleverest housewife cannot cook. - Chinese proverb".  I am not sure if you remember when I posted about my relearning how to make rice once I got married, but now after a few years I have it right... or at least I think I do.  I am planning on make this meal or something very similar for dinner tonight. I forgot to buy pineapple so my shrimp is going to have peaches instead but I think it will still taste good with the coconut rice. I will post my picture when I have one, but for now I will post Amelia's picture of this delicious looking meal.
