Spicy Lemon Ginger Tea #CIC

Use chili powder and honey to make a sweet and spicy tea.

Spicy and Sweet together in each sip!  Honey and chili powder are the ingredients for this month's crazy ingredient challenge.

Spicy Lemon Ginger Tea

Chili powder and honey are the ingredients that are to be used in this month's crazy ingredient challenge.  I made this tea many times using red pepper and decided to try it with chili powder and see if it still works.... and it does!  This is a perfect drink to start the day with.

Use chili powder and honey to make a sweet and spicy tea.

2 tsp loose tea (I used rooibos)
1-inch ginger - cut in pieces
Lemon juice from 1/2 lemon
lemon zest (small amount)
1/4 chili powder
2 cups hot water
honey to taste

In teapot (I used my Teavana PerfectTea Maker) place loose tea, ginger, lemon juice, lemon zest, chili powder and hot water.  Let steep for 2-3 minutes.  Pour into a cup and add honey to taste.  Enjoy!

Are you wondering what Crazy Ingredient Challenge is? Each month we are given a group of ingredients to choose to come up with two ingredients that we have then use to make our recipe.  It is fun to think of a recipe may or may not use recipes that go together.  Make sure that you check out all the other bloggers recipes.

  1. This tea sounds like something I would enjoy Marlys.

  2. Oh! I've had this before. Never thought to use the chili powder in place of cayenne. Great idea. I'll try this later.
