National Waffle Week
This week is National Waffle Week. Are you a traditional waffle eater? ~ plain with syrup or are you an unconventional waffle eater? I am slightly traditional eater with a flair. I do have a traditional recipe that I make and try to spice it up at time.
I have a traditional waffle recipe that I start out with and then I go from there. I change the ingredients, add spices, depending on the season and what my taste buds want for the day.
Traditional Waffle Recipe
Ingredients:
1 1/4 cup flour
2 tsp baking powder
2/3 tsp salt
1 tbsp Zulka Morena Pure Cane Sugar
1 cup milk
2 eggs, separated
4 tbsp oil.
Directions:
Separate eggs into two bowls.
Beat egg whites until stiff, set aside.
In bowl with egg yolk add the rest of the ingredients and mix until well incorporated (I mix with a spoon).
Fold in egg white.
Prepare waffle iron as directed.
Add dough to waffle iron and bake as directed by your waffle iron.
From this recipe I then will make waffles like these ones:

Waffles are easy to make and taste great. You can also freeze them and then stick them in the toaster for a quick breakfast or dip them into syrup. To freeze them break into single pieces and let cool. Freeze them in a freezer bag for later use.
I did not know it was waffle week! I love waffles and that gingerbread looks fabulous!

I love waffles. They were such a treat on cold winter Saturday mornings. My mother would make them and also warm maple syrup. Brings back some great memories. Cathy
