Cinnamon Dolce Chai Latte

I am a big Chai fan.  I have to have at least one cup of chai per day.  I also like to make my own simple syrups and one of my favorite simple syrup is Cinnamon Dolce.  Putting the two together is Awesome!

Cinnamon Dolce Chai Latte

Cinnamon Dolce Chai Latte / This and That #tea #chailatte

Ingredients:
1 cup chai
2 tsp Cinnamon Dolce Syrup (recipe below)
1/4 cup milk (you can also use almond milk)
whipped cream (optional)

Directions:
Make 1 cup of chai - either using tea bags, loose tea, chai concentrate or through your keurig. Steep tea if using tea bag or loose tea 4-5 minutes.
Once tea is brewed add 1 tsp Cinnamon Dolce Syrup and mix
While tea is brewing, froth steam milk and 1 tsp of Cinnamon Dolce Syrup.  You can do this on the stove and froth with a whisk or use a milk frother like Aroma Hot Froth X- Press Milk Frother (this is what I use and love it).
When using the Milk Frother I fill milk to just below the latte line and add 1 tsp cinnamon dolce syrup and push the button once.
Add froth to your cup.
Slowly pour in Chai Tea.
Add whipped cream (optional)
Sprinkle with cinnamon, nutmeg or even allspice.

Cooks note:  I use the cappuccino attachment in my frother as I like a thicker froth.  I pour about half of the latte into the cup and then slowly add the chai, then spoon more froth on top, especially if I don't use any whip cream.

Cinnamon Dolce Syrup
Ingredient:
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup water
1 tbsp cinnamon extract

Directions:
Place all ingredients into a small sauce pan bring to boil on medium heat.
Decrease heat to low and simmer for at least 5 minutes until syrup has decreased slightly.
Remove from heat and cool.
Keep leftovers in the fridge.

Cooks Notes:  This syrup is wonderful in coffee, especially if you are making Mexican coffee or use it on pancakes and waffles.  I often will add a tablespoon or two in my waffle batter.
