Iced Chai Latte with Cinnamon Dolce Syrup

One of my favorite teas is Chai.. I am a big fan of all the spices that make up a good chai ~ cinnamon, nutmeg, anise, cardamom and a little peppercorn.  It smells so wonderful as it is brewing and I have had many people ask me what I am drinking.

Not long ago I bought a milk frother and that has changed my world and my drinking habits.  Now everything I drink has some frothed milk in it.  I started out with one that I had to do all the work but now all I have to do is push a button either once or up to three times and my froth is made for me with my new Aroma Hot Froth X-Press.  I bought my at Walmart and no I don't get anything for saying that I use it, I just like to let you know about products that I think are great.

Another thing that I have done is started to make my own syrups to add to my lattes, cappuccinos or any specialty coffees or teas that I make.  One of my favorite syrups is Cinnamon Dolce Syrup and it works perfect for my Iced or Hot Chai Lattes. Mixing the syrup into your froth.. makes your froth so good.

Iced Chai Latte with Cinnamon Dolce Syrup/ This and That #chai #latte #cinnamon #homemadesyruprecipe

Ingredients: (for one large cup) Printable Recipe
3/4 cup brewed chai  (1 tea bag to 3/4 cup hot water)
1 -2 tsp condensed milk**
1/2 cup ice cubes (and a few extra)
milk for making your froth (I use a little less then what it says on the Aroma for cappuccino)
1 tbsp Cinnamon Dolce Syrup (recipe below)

Directions:
Brew 3/4 cup chai tea for 4-6 minutes (it is better to brew strong).
Add 1 - 2 tsp condensed milk.
Add a couple of ice cubes to tea to cool it down.
As tea is brewing, make your froth by adding 1 tbsp Cinnamon Dolce Syrup and milk (I use skim milk). Pour both syrup and milk into the Aroma and press button 3 times and let froth.
Add ice cubes about 1/2 cup into your mug.
Pour froth over ice cubes.
Add cooled chai to cup.
Sprinkle spices to top - cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger or a combination.
Enjoy

Cooks Notes:
I use condensed milk as my sweetener in chai and most of my teas, but you can use any kind of sweetener and add milk to the tea also, as the milk brings out the flavour.  You can also use instant chai, bought chai like Oregon Chai or Tazo Chai or Homemade Chai Concentrate for this recipe.

Cinnamon Dolce Syrup
Ingredients:
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup water
2 tsp Cinnamon extract
Directions:
In pot bring all three ingredients to boil, reduce heat and simmer for about 5 minutes until liquid reduces slightly.  Let cool and pour into container and refrigerate.
