Crazy Ingredient Challenge ~ Holiday Mix

So, I wrote out my post for this challenge, got right to the bottom and the whole post disappeared.  Not to be found.  And it was a good post and I am not writing out everything again... So here I go with the post a second time tonight.

If you follow my blog you know that each month I do a crazy ingredient challenge.  I think this may be our 6 months of challenges.  I love doing them as it makes me think outside of the box and put ingredients together that I may think not necessarily should go together but so far they have all worked.  Last month was gingerbread spice and onions and I made Seared Gingerbread Tenderloin and Caramelized Onions and Mushrooms.

So how does this challenge work you may ask... Our fearless leader, Jutta over at Hungry Little Girl gives us two ingredients and then we decide if we want to accept this challenge or not.  If you like a challenge when you are cooking and are willing to cook with ingredients that you may not always think will go together, click on the box at the bottom of the post.  This will take you to the instructions of what to do.  It is a lot of fun and great group to belong to.

This months ingredients are Garlic and White Chocolate.  When I heard these two ingredients I did a google search as I am not the best at coming up with recipes for myself.  I can change them but I need something to go by... or at least the ingredients.   I found some cupcake recipes and most of the recipes were for dark chocolate and not white... but then I thought of Chex Mix.  That should work.. So I headed over to one of my favorite online recipe places... Allrecipes.com and found this recipe for Joanne's Pumpkin Patch Paradise and I had a start for my recipe.

Holiday Mix

Ingredients:
2 cups Corn Chex
2 cups Rice Chex
1/2 cup pretzels (broken in small pieces)
1/3 cup almonds
1/4 cup almond butter
1/8 cup butter
1 tsp Worcestershire Sauce salt
1/8 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp salt
2/3 cups assorted ingredients like coated candy milk chocolate, caramel bits, craisins
2 oz white chocolate ( I use Ghirardelli chocolate)

Directions:
Preheat oven to 250 degrees.  Grease cookie sheet.
In mixing bowl add corn chex, rice chex, pretzel and almonds.  Set aside.
Combine almond butter, butter, Worcestershire sauce, salt and garlic powder.  Heat over high heat until everything is melted.
Pour mixture over cereal mixture and combine until well mixed.
Spread mixture on cookie sheet.
Bake for approximately 1 hour until ingredients are dry.  Stirring every 15 minutes.
Remove from oven and let cool.
Once cook add assorted ingredients.
Melt white chocolate and pour over entire mixture and mix until coated.

This mixture would be perfect as gifts for your neighbors, friends or coworkers that is if you don't eat it all yourself.  It has an unique flavour to it.
