Jars to Valentine's Candle or Candy Dish

One of my go to places to find ideas for crafts in Pinterest and I found this great, simple inexpensive way to make candles or even a candy dish or cookies... or what ever you may want to put in it.  I know I would love to have this on my mantle or even on my dresser, holding knick knacks.

Jars to Valentine's Candle or Candy Dish 


Materials:
Large Baby Food Jar
8 inch lace doily
Ribbon
Scrapbook paper, sayings or you can use printed material and cut out a heart like the one on pinterest
embellishments if you would like
Glue or double sided tape

Directions:
Clean and wash jars
Place jar in center of doily, glue or using tape attach doily to center of the bottom of jar.  Bring up edges around the jar.  You can glue them to the jar if you would like.  Tie a ribbon about half way up the doily
Place saying on one side of the jar and add embellishments to the back if you like (I used some heart shapes from some scrapebooking paper I had).
Add ribbon to the top of jar.
Add candle.

If you don't want to make a candle with the jar, you can fill the jar with candies or cookies, either homemade or store bought.  These are a perfect homemade gift.  If using the lid, I placed a paper doily on the lid, gluing it and folding the doily slightly around the edges of the lid and tied a ribbon around the doily.

These candles only cost me maybe a total of $1.00- $1.50 as the doilies were bought Family Dollar for 4 - $2.00, so each candle had one making it 50 cents and the jars were either saved from other uses and I used scraps of paper and ribbons that I had at home.

These candles can be made with any size jars ~mason jars, food jars like biscoff or baby food jars.  I made a few other Valentine's Candles and showed how I made them over at the Daily Dish Magazine.

    Marlys, I love these jars. They're so pretty for any occasion, really, but especially beautiful for Valentine's! The saying with the candlelight glowing behind it is gorgeous. I really like how affordable these are to make, too. Thank you for sharing these at Treasure Box Tuesday!
