Sheet Music Ornaments Part Deux

eLast week I made some Sheet Music Ornaments that were shapes.  I took those ones over to Robyn's View to show off.   This week I made another design and I am bringing them to you.  The design that I have made this week would also make great Christmas cards too.. Instead of putting them on foam board you can use card stock.  I  think I may make some as cards as well as ornaments.

Last Week's Ornaments

This week's Ornaments

Instructions:
Materials:  to make one
foam board (optional)
card stock (white, green or red)
sheet music (either print from online or buy sheet music)
vintage pictures
clipboard shapes - trees, snowflakes
foil doily
ribbon
glitter
glue
double sided tape
crimper
teabags or instant coffee and water

Directions:
1.  Find Christmas Vintage Sheet music.  I downloaded mine from the internet.  Some of them were already vintaged so I didn't need to make them look vintage.   The Graphic Fairy is a good place to find Vintage Sheet Music.
2.  If you would like a vintage look to your sheet music add either teabags or instant coffee to a small amount of water.  Steep until desired colour.  Dip sheet music in coloured water and set to dry.
3.  Once dry crimp paper.  I like the style of crimped paper but it is ok to leave straight or crumple the paper into a ball and straighten.
4.  Cut card stock to the size that you want to make your ornaments.  Most of mine are approx 3.5 X 5 inches.
5.  Optional cut foam board slightly smaller then the card stock.  This will be the backing of the ornament and gives some stability to it.
6.  Find vintage Christmas pictures... Here are some great places to start Cottage Dreamer. The Graphic Fairy.  The pictures that I have in the first and third ornaments were found online on a blog, I thought that I saved that blog somewhere, but I can't find it.  I apologize as these were perfect vintage Christmas pictures.  I will keep looking and leave the link when I find them.
7.  If using clipboard shapes you may want to paint them, or use craft paper to cover them or use glitter paint.  On the first ornament I used green craft paper and cut out the clipboard shape and glued the paper on the clip board.  I also had a couple of stickers that I placed on the tree.  I used glitter glue over the tree and then using double sided tape I taped the vintage picture to the tree.  The second ornament I had a blue snowflake made of clip board and I used glitter glue on the top of the star.  The third ornament I painted the clip board snow flake and added glitter.
8.  I used double sided tape, taping the sheet music to white card stock.  I then used the double sided tape to tape the foam board to the back of the card stock.  Glue or use double sided tape to attach the clip board shapes to the sheet music.  Glue ribbon to the sheet music.
9.  Add string to hang.  You can glue it between the card stock and foam board.

*** note to make the medallion on the third ornament I used double sided tape and taped the vintage picture to a gold paper doily.  I cut the doily so that it was slightly larger then the picture.  I then taped the doily to red card stock and cut around slightly bigger then the doily.  I then taped the medallion to the sheet music.

Here was my inspiration for these ornaments.  I couldn't find small clip boards so I had to improvise.  I also didn't want to make anything that was very expensive.
Beautiful!

  2. Cute ideas! I play piano, and people will give me old sheet music thinking that I'll be really excited to play it. But half the time I've never heard the song or it's not at all challenging. Maybe I'll cut some of it up :) Thanks for the idea!
